Small Group Retreat (guided)

A group retreat may be appropriate for you. Come with friends or your small group, to learn and experience together on topics of interest. These retreats are offered over a three day / two night time frame and are specifically designed for a group of 4 – 5 people.

Topics Offered:

  • The Way of Prayer: Exploring the ‘Tried and True’ Practices of Knowing God’s Heart.
  • Spiritual Formation: A Wesley Perspective
  • The Sermon on the Mount: A Guide to Character Ethics
  • Understanding Depression
  • Dealing with Anxiety
  • Family: Raising Children Who Care.

Your guided small group retreat will include:

  • Two Nights accommodation in either our guest cottage and/or retreat cabin.
  • Welcome, Introduction and Q & A time with Ken and Fay.
  • Study Materials and Notebooks
  • Three teaching sessions:
  • Your Noon Meal (Day 2)
  • Access to our library on the topics of marriage, family, & spirituality.
  • A map of our property and the surrounding area with suggestions for leisure activities.
  • Lots of unstructured time to do some exploring, to make use of our hiking trails, the outdoor chapel, the hammocks, the campfire pit, etc., and to experience the quiet.

Who is Your Educator?

Ken Neilson is a professional counsellor/educator who has worked in the counselling/education field since 1980. He has been in private practice for many years counselling and helping many people. His teaching experience includes teaching and speaking in the areas of Counselling, Psychology, Sociology and Spiritual Formation, for college students, pastors, and lay people both in Canada, the USA and in Africa.

His Education:

Master of Arts Degree in Family Counselling (Counselling and Family Psychology) from the School of Graduate Studies, Eastern Nazarene College Quincy, Massachusetts.

Bachelor of Arts Degree (Psychology, Philosophy) from the University of Manitoba
Bachelor of Sacred Literature Degree (Theology and Liberal Arts) from Canadian Nazarene College
One year of advanced post graduate research studies in Spiritual Formation from University of Manchester in England and Nazarene Theological College.

His Professional Designations:

Certified Canadian Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association
Certified Family Life Educator with the National Council on Family Relations.
New Brunswick Professional Counselling Association   (Member)
Licensed Minister in the Church of the Nazarene.
